Stafford Lake Alternative Assignment
Aramburu Island Enhancement: This project was created by the Audubon staff when they observed that the majority of birds in Richardson Bay were using Aramburu Island as a refuge from the toxic waters of the bay due to an oil spill. Audubon spent two years just fundraising and planning this project. It was designed to improve aquatic wetland and upland habitats for a range of local species, stabilize the rapidly eroding eastern shoreline, and help the island adapt to rising water levels. This has significant impact on the human population in this area. It is important to volunteer for a project such as this one because if the ecosystem goes amiss, it effects everything and everyone.
